Tobias Raupach

Founder and Medical Education Expert

Tobias Raupach is a cardiologist and expert in medical education. Following graduation from Göttingen Medical School (Germany), he earned a masters degree in Medical Education from Heidelberg University. For over 13 years, he was in charge of a cardio-respiratory teaching module in an undergraduate medical school curriculum. In this capacity, he implemented various innovative teaching formats such as electronic seminars with case-based learning and individualised mailed feedback. He also ran one of the first trials investigating the effectiveness of inverted classrooms in terms of student learning outcomes. He is generally interested in learning outcome rather than satisfaction with teaching - this is why he got involved in the development of an evaluation tool specifically aimed at measuring what students have and have not learned.

Since 2012, Tobias has been affiliated to University College London where he works with psychologists on medical education as well as in the field of smoking cessation. His current position is Head of the Institute for Medical Education at Boon University. He is thus involved in developing digital teaching interventions and running trials to test their effectiveness.

During one of his previous projects, Tobias got involved with digital simulations. This served as a starting point for further developments including DIVINA. He now contributes medical content as well as educational input to Yellow Bird.

Apart from the duties arising from his professional roles, Tobias enjoys playing various instruments as well as a bit of cycling and hiking.
